50s

The City of Wendell is celebrating their 100th year of being a city. For that occasion, the Wendell Middle School allowed the students to dress up like the 50s, 60s, 70s or 80s. Joshua & Tiffany (thanks to Ann for finding the poodle skirt) decided they wanted to dress up instead of wearing school uniforms for the day.

1st place

Tyler took 1st place in our District (which includes 3A schools: Wendell, Filer, Kimberly, Buhl, Gooding) in wrestling. This means that he will be going to the state wrestling championships, which are Feb 27 & 28 in Pocatello. Tyler has wrestled at 125 lbs. this season. His record is 16 wins, 13 loses. He has really improved this season and seems to be enjoying it more. Here are some pictures that were taken during the wrestling season.

Our baby is walking!

Brianna has been practicing keeping her balance and in the last week has started taking steps. She can now take 5 or 6 steps without falling. She also gets herself to a stand from sitting. Now it is only a short amount of time before she is running!

Special Olympics in ID

I (Lon) volunteered for the Special Olympics World Winter Games (like the Olympics) on Feb. 11th & 12th in Sun Valley with the cross-country skiing events. This is the USA team (I am not sure if this was in preparation for the 4 X 1K relay competition or to keep them entertained). The coach had 3 teams of 4 people line up behind these portable bathrooms. He had them run around the bathrooms and tag the next athlete in line. When they got done, the athletes wanted to do it again to practice. It was funny to watch! The blue entrance by the white with red stripe tent was our medical tent. It is actually a tent they use for homeland security/natural disasters. We used the snowmobiles for transportation off the course to the medical tent. Who can find the most differences between these 2 pictures? One of the many awards ceremonies. Each athlete was placed in a specific division of each race (I don't know what it was based on). Some divisions had up to 8th place awarded. These 2 athletes, from Canada, wanted me to tape their injuries prior to each race. The young man came back after winning his 1st silver medal and wanted his knee taped again. I told him that it would be a gold medal tape job. He came back Thursday morning and showed me his 2nd silver medal. I told him that I would do my best tape job for a gold medal. The medical tent called me, that afternoon when I was home, and told me that the young man wanted to tell me that he had won a gold medal and that my tape job was a gold medal tape job!

Basketball

We have been busy the past few months watching Tyler wrestle and Joshua play basketball. Joshua's 8th grade team is not doing too well, but we think Joshua is doing a good job. The team has tournament this week on Wednesday & Thursday. Here is a picture of Joshua shooting a free throw.

Trip to Challis

We went to Challis, ID, on Feb. 6th & 7th to watch Tyler wrestle at the tournament there. It is a beautiful drive to Challis. I would like to see the area during the summer some time, but the snow was beautiful. While there, we stayed at the Village Inn. Our bedroom had a beautiful log bed, one like what I would like for our bedroom some day.

Tyler did awesome and took 4th place!
