Sunset

When I see beautiful sunsets in Idaho, it reminds me of when I was growing up in AZ and seeing the beautiful sunsets.

We attended Lon's Grandma Eoise Stokes 90th birthday party in Burley on Saturday. Lon's Mom (Ann) and her 3 sisters performed an Eloise play. Lon's Mom plays the part of Eloise. I thought this was too great to not share. Enjoy! The link will take you to YouTube.

Homecoming royalty

Homecoming week for Wendell was September 20 - 24th. The theme this year was "Get Your Game (board) On". Tyler & Josh enjoyed dressing up most days according to the theme. Tyler was selected by his classmates to be 1 of 4 people for Homecoming king (Seniors). Several years ago, we were given a tuxedo from Lon's cousin, which finally fits Tyler and saved Tyler some money. We bought a tuxedo shirt and a tie to match the girls dress and we were set. The homecoming dance here is very casual and most people don't take dates, so Tyler just went with some friends.

Football season

Tyler is enjoying playing football this season. He plays defensive linebacker. The 1st game was September 3rd and the last game is October 22nd, with games every Friday evening. He does a great job and we hear his name mentioned many times each game. On Friday, he had 9 unassisted tackles and some assisted tackles (not sure how many).

School

Our children started school on Wednesday, August 25th. We cannot believe that we have a senior in High School, children at the 3 Wendell schools and 1 still at home. Justin is so excited to be in afternoon kindergarten.

Humanitarian Center

On July 29th, Lindsey, Tiffany, Josh & I (Melanie) went to the Humanitarian Center, inside DI, in Twin Falls. Lon's Aunt Carol, Uncle Ray & Aunt Lea are all service missionaries there, which made it extra special for us. While we were there, Lindsey sorted stuffed animals & yarn, made patterns for baby snugglies, assembled school kits, cut out squares for quilts, sewed quilts, cut edges of quilt and serpentine stitched quilts. We had a lot of fun serving and Tiffany even brought home some fabric to make a quilt at home for one of her value projects. All of our children asked me when we are going back to serve. What a great thing to do! Thanks to Ann for watching Justin & Brianna so that going to the Humanitarian Center was possible. Tiffany's young women group went to the HC to serve, so Tiffany was able to turn in her completed quilt.

EFY

Tyler & Josh were able to attend EFY (Especially For Youth) this year from August 9 - 13th in Twin Falls, ID. Many, many thanks to April & Todd for letting them & 4 of their friends take over their basement for the week. Our Stake & Ward made it financially easy for the youth in our Stake to attend EFY. The cost for EFY was $140. Our Stake paid $70, our ward paid $50 and each person only had to pay $20. They enjoyed attending EFY and came home with motivational stories, more motivated to form good habits, strengthened testimonies & a lot of new friends.
